The best.

Why would you want to take a very practical and utilitarian vehicle and make is less of both?

These look terrible. And you missed the best one. The only one that wears that body shape well is a mid-sized one. That's because fullsize SUVs should not be 2-doors.

O.K. but this side of low speed police chases, what would you need one for? I'm not going down the "why would you even need an SUV" rabbit-hole but IF you are so inclined, why not have four doors and a hatch?

There needs to be a new Bronco. For Sure.

YES. I want a 2-door Tahoe SO BAD. Loved those.

Torsional rigidity, duh.

damn good answer if you ask me
My dad had one of these from 96 until 3 years ago. Except his had gloss black trim. Great truck, he misses it terribly, and he's in a 2013 Silverado now.

WHAT?! is this a concept? they never made one with that body style I am aware of! i though these died in the late 90's!

Sometimes the shortness is more utilitarian.
I just posted that my dad had a 2 door yukon from 96 until 3 years ago. He ran a plowing business and lopping a foot and a half off the back of the truck was a massive benefit to his maneuverability.
Also, the back seat in there was plenty big enough for 3 of us teenagers to ride 16 hours on vacation. If the spare tire wasn't chilling in the cargo area it would've been MASSIVE too.

the fuck is this?

Best answer:
my dad ran a plowing business with a 2 door yukon.
It was a massive benefit in maneuverability, but all the power and capability of the bigger truck.

I doubt very much that having back doors negatively impacts vehicle rigidity. If anything it would be better as there is more structure there than having a huge window without a C pillar.

Over here, this seems to be the tool of choice for private plowing companies.

That thing looks pretty effective.
Though we also used it to tow our boat.
I doubt this has much towing capacity...

Dad has a 97 Tahoe 2 door. Its getting an LSx and turbo. Heh.

I've considered doing this to my 720 pickup. Just need a rear roof section from a wagon or suv that would match with an 86 720 cab.

It's rated at more than it's own weight. http://www.uktow.com/towing%20capac… 1.3 tons or roughly 2800 lbs is quite a lot.

Two-door Durango? This is real? Where can I get one?

THANK YOU!
LONG LIVE THE 3-DOORS!
(although I would prefer longer coupe-style side doors, also... might as well be able to swing one's legs through the door easier, if there aren't tandem side doors.)
I also agree that once you get to full-size, the length of the vehicle, specifically the length of the cargo area, you might as well have the extra side doors, even if you leave the rear seats folded down. It gets hard to reach things up behind the front seat backs when loading and un-loading.
But mid-size, or compact, hell yes 3-doors.
Nomad
Shooting Brake
Fastback
clown-shoe
whatever you want to call it. We need more of them with AWD, and at least enough clearance to deal with the deteriorating roads, and maybe some (or a lot in some cases) of off-road capability.

For it's size that's amazing.
though the 2 door Yukon apparently weighed in 1000 pounds lighter than the 4 door making it 4500 pounds, with a tow capacity of 6500 (when speced right of course).

Yep. I posted this yesterday which is lost in the grey on jalopnik :
I mourn the lack of a two door utility SUV. Although Jeep is poised to bring the cute little Renegade into production, they are going to squish four doors on it (you watch). While the FJ Cruiser had little half-doors similar to the Mazda RX-8, it works for me (pictured: my 2012 Trail Teams edition). Sadly, discontinued, as 2014 was the last production year for the FJ. The only other choice that I can think of is the venerable Jeep Wrangler, and it is just not quite the same thing.

The best one? Most unique, most interesting, yes. But they're freaking hideous! I still kind of like them, though. I actually saw a maroon one on the road the other day. Couldn't believe it.
